So I’m writing this just post 1hr before I leave for Pucon, Chile for the weekend! Pucon is a small “pueblito” a 12 hour bus ride south of Vina so I’ll be having “lots” of fun crammed on the bus tonight! In Pucon we plan on white water rafting, visiting hot springs, and climbing a volcano (depending on if it rains or not!!! *crosses fingers*).
Today I decided to take Sasha to the beach because it was a glorious day!! We had been there for about 5 minutes and I decided I wanted to dip my feet in the water. So I rolled up my leggings and walked towards the water. All of a sudden I see a GIANT wave forming so I start to run backwards so I don’t get soaked, but Sasha was standing right behind me and clumsy me ran into her. I ended up falling down just as the wave reached where I was previously standing and I got drenched from waist down!!!! A group of 5 Chileans chilling on the beach had seen the entire thing and started laughing. I was thoroughly embarrassed, but couldn’t do a thing about it cause I was now soaked! To my surprise, one of the guys came over to me and asked if I wanted a beer to shake off some of the embarrassment. I agreed and joined their circle. They were group of 3 guys and 2 girls that also went to University, but in Valparaiso (the next city over). I spent the next two hours chatting with them about my experiences in Chile, dogs, food, me falling!!, and whatever college aged Chilean guys and girls talk about! I was really surprised how much I was able to understand when they were speaking 100 mph Chilean paced Spanish! Another thing I noticed was all the Chilean slang I recognized! Chileans use the words “bacan” (“that’s awesomeeeeee!!!”), “cuatica” (” thats’ awesomeeeee!!!”) “weon” (“dude”), “la raja” (“the best”), and more ALL the time!! After I had dried off I had to head home to finish packing. I said my goodbyes, and now I’m off to Pucon! Ciao chicos!
